Ok, so my fiance wants to get a new dog. But I'm nervous, I think it would be fun having another dog friend for my pup, but dont want the new pup to come home with worms, kennel cough, parvo, or anything. How could I be sure this wont happen?? Should I be so nervous, or am I just being over worried??

You are concerned which is good. Note that any animal coming in will probably have some health concerns. Get the animal from a good source and ask a lot of questions and ask for proof of things like worming etc. One animal's illness is not a guarantee you present animal will get sick. A good immune system is the best defence. Certainly keep the new animal in a quarantine area within the house to start off with anyways. This helps both animals adjust a bit easier and puts the brakes on any communicable diseases that might be present before a vet has a look-see. Cautious is not a bad way to go.
