Can a dog get parvovirus, even if vaccinated?

I have a 7 month old Pomeranian puppy. Just this morning, he has had diahreah, and a VERY small amount of blood in his stool. He is still eating, drinking and running around. Could it be parvo? If not, what else do you think it might be?? Yes, going to take him to the vet, so there is no need to say that! Thanks! 55 seconds ago He did manage to get some human food yesterday, so I'd say it's just an upset stomach! If it continues, or if any other signs appear, off to the vet we go! Weimaraner Mom- Great answer, very informative! He had his parvo shot at 3 months.

If he's been fully vaccinated then it's much harder than if he were 7 weeks old and hadn't had time to build up the antibodies. However, did he eat something he shouldn't? Has he eaten any human food? Had a diet switch? The common signs of the intestinal form of Parvo Virus are severe vomiting and severe haemmorhagic (bloody) diarrhea. Anything is possible, it might be something as minor as gastroenteritis or even pancreatitis, especially if he was given ice cream - human ice cream - I've seen it happen. Not all blood in the stool is parvo virus. If he had parvo I would assume he'd be vomiting and lethargic and off his food. Good luck, might just be a very bad upset stomach from something he consumed. Hope he's ok.
