how do u know if a dog has parvo?

i have a 6 month old miniture pincher/chihuahua mix and he wont eat or drink and if he does eat and drink he pukes it up . i took him to the vet and they gave him fluids and stuff and said it would jsut have to pass . has anyone esles dog had this and how do i make him hyper and happy .

I have had a dog that contracted parvo even when he was vaccinated against it. If he isn't drinking or eating, and is throwing up a lot and have bloody dire ahh that smells like a horrible metal smell, and losing weight then he could have parvo. It is extremely important to have the vet to a check for parvo. Dogs not treated for parvo can die within 7 days. I was luck and got the virus within the first stage of it and my dog was put in the vet hospital and treated for 7 days non-stop and he recovered, not all dogs are as lucky. Remember even with parvo dogs can still act like there is nothing wrong. There is usually a 7-14 day window period for the virus to take affect. Good Luck I wish you and your baby dog the best of luck. Please go and atleast have the test done. If the vet suspected parvo and he said just wait it out he's an idiot no offense to your vet.
